Two of the county's 53 voting precincts are the Old Courthouse and the Judical Center in Boonville. But after numerous complaints about difficulties those with disabilities face in these buildings, County Clerk Sarah Redman says they will receive automatic doors and ramp railings.
The secretary of state awarded almost $36,000 for these upgrades.
"This gives them the opportunity to actually participate on Election Day," said Secretary of State Connie Lawson. "Not have a travel board come to them, but make them be a bigger part of the election process."
The automatic doors will go at the basement entrances of the Old Courthouse and Judicial Center which is where voters go. Officials say by primaries the renovations will be complete.
