Leaders there say they're seeing a major jump in the number of students who use alcohol and marijuana especially in junior high kids. One local statistic that may surprise you. Officials say about 37 percent of high school seniors in Warrick County drink alcohol.
"I think a lot of it might have to do with social media, parents work more now, youth are drinking to cope," said Margery Gianopoulos of Communities that Care Coalition. "Youth have a lot more stress than we did 20 years ago."
Coalition leaders also say a big part of their campaign will be about educating parents so they'll be able to recognize the signs of alcohol or drug abuse.
