A joint investigation into the theft of telephone cable in Warrick and Spencer Counties leads to the arrest of a Boonville man.

Authorities say there have been 13 thefts of the cable along county roads since the end of September, leaving hundreds of residents in both counties without phone service, including access to 911.  According to AT&T, the thefts have cost the company more than $30,000 in wages and materials.  Repair totals have not yet been finalized.

42-year-old Dean Bannister of Boonville has been arrested in connection with the thefts.  He is currently being held in the Spencer County Jail, but faces charges in both counties.

So far, no motive has been given for the thefts, however, the investigation is ongoing and police say more arrests could be on the way.
