What You Should Know About Medical Information Bureau (MIB)

MIB is over 100 years old and likely has a file most Americans
Gate Financial Services' Bob Boxell talked to Local 7 Lifestyles about the Medical Information Bureau (MIB). Few people have heard of it, but the MIB has records on millions of people including their medical history, credit history, motor vehicle history and even lifestyles.

Just like the credit reporting agencies that work for banks and other lenders, the MIB works for insurance companies to prevent fraud. They try to stay out of the public eye because they want to deal directly with insurance companies, which pay them, not us consumers.

If you have applied for individual life, health, disability or long term care insurance in the past 7 years, they have a file on you. Under law, they are required to provide you with a copy.
