The city commission is scheduled to consider the ideas Tuesday.
The first ordinance prohibits the advertising of alcohol outside the seller's premises on anything larger than a card 2.5 by 3 inches in the window. Another prohibits using handbills or circulars to advertise alcohol. The other two ordinances prohibit dancing in premises where alcohol is served, and prohibit issuing liquor licenses where dancing takes place.
Mayor Steve Austin told The Gleaner the ordinances are outdated and not being enforced. Austin added that there's no way or reason to enforce them.
And though it's not generally known, a large swath of Henderson County has been dry since 1943.
