Winter Supplies in Short Supply at Some Area Home Improvement Stores

As we hear updates from residents and officials, many say they felt warned and prepared for the weekend winter blast.. But our area's home improvement stores are trying their best not to slip far behind. Some stores tell us they're shelves are emptying as fast as they can get filled. "With a snow event like this, we actually have a command center we order our stuff from, generally we can get it in one to two days, however this year we sold out very quickly, we've been out of salt since about Friday," says Store Manager Aaron Tanner. He tells us Lowes' carries winter gear year around, but stock up as the season approaches. This weekend he says was a mad dash for snow-blowers, de-icer and other items. "Thursday was very hectic, every single person was out here buying salt and shovels and generators and stuff like that, we actually did run out of generators but we were able to go get some Friday we got some shipped from another store, we've sold through almost half of those."
Right now, there's no salt or snow shovels in the store. Across the Lloyd at Home Depot, officials say they're out of shovels and getting low on salt. Henderson's Rural King tells us an emergency truck load is on the way to replenish car scrapers, shovels and de-icer. Tanner says, "This one's been quite significant, I think last year was the day after Christmas if I'm not mistaken, this years been crazy how fast it's actually gone out of here," But don't be frozen in your tracks, these supply stores say they're re-stocking--and re-loading to make sure winter needs are taken care of. Madisonville's Rural King says it also had an emergency truck load re-stock shelves this weekend. The west-side Lowes says it's new shipment should be in as late as Tuesday.
