Veterans Day is this Saturday and all weeklong Eyewitness News is saluting our veterans, including a very special trip by local veterans.

Join Eyewitness News' Stuart Hammer this Thursday at 10 on WEHT Local as he goes on an Honor Flight with Tri-State veterans -- visiting the war memorials in Washington D.C.

Eighty-six Tri-State veterans were on the most recent Honor Flight. Their photos are listed below, along with 10 veterans unable to make the trip. Their pictures are marked “In Memory Of...” Click on a veterans picture to view a larger version.

How to Help/Get Involved

You can get involved in the next Honor Flight with “Operation Mail Call.” Say thank you for your freedom by writing to veterans. When the Hoosier heroes return to Evansville after their emotional journey to Washington’s monuments, vets open letters on the flight back.
Every veteran will get an envelope filled with handwritten letters, and even coloring pages from kids. It’s a touching and personal way to let our veterans know, even after all these years, their sacrifice isn’t forgotten.
The deadline for each flight’s inclusion is the Saturday prior to trip day. You can find out more info on “Operation Mail Call” on the Honor Flight of Southwestern Indiana’s website.
You can also show support by visiting the Evansville Regional Airport the night of their return. Bring signs and flags and cheer the vets on a parade around the terminal.
