Vince Gill is getting ready to perform at the Pro-Am Tropicana Evansville Pairing Party.
Gill isn't just playing a concert at the event, he's also going to be playing out on the golf course at Victoria National in Newburgh. It's a place he's been before.
"I've played a good bit of golf out at Victoria National and it's harder than I'd like. So, I'm anxious to see how many balls I'll lose tomorrow, and then let the pros have it on Thursday," Gill said.
The Oklahoma native said he's been playing golf since he was 5 years old. But on Wednesday, Gill will be playing in the Pro-Am at this year's United Leasing Championship. Gill said because of work, his wife Amy Grant will not be able to cheer him on at Victoria National.
Gill said he enjoys the creativity of golf, and said the beauty of music is there's no score. But since Gill works at night, he said he has time to play both. And that trend continues Wednesday on a golf course he calls beautiful and difficult.
Gill is scheduled to play at Victoria National Wednesday morning at 7:30.
Also Tuesday night, a huge surprise for one Evansville man who has been a Vince Gill fan for years. 88-year-old Bryan Hill got to meet the country star. Hill is battling bone and kidney cancer. Tuesday night, Hill and Vince Gill sang together. Hill is the father of Evansville Police Deputy Chief Brad Hill.
