Ben Walls joined the Eyewitness News team in June 2023, and he is thrilled to serve the tri-state as a reporter and multimedia journalist.
While earning his journalism degree at Virginia Tech, he served as news editor for his campus newspaper — the Collegiate Times — and earned news and communications internships at WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia and at the Virginia State Golf Association, respectively. Ben is also a proud Kappa Delta Rho brother where he and his philanthropy team members collaborated to raise thousands of dollars for the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. He graduated cum laude in May 2023.
While in college, Ben was honored to report on the COVID-19 crisis and effect on his university’s life, a North Korean defector visiting Southwest Virginia and the latest news on the economy and government in Virginia’s New River Valley region.
Though originally from Richmond, Virginia, Ben happily resides in Evansville. He enjoys hiking, playing football and basketball and cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies.
For those who have a story idea or for those wishing to just say “hi,” Ben is one email away at bwalls@tristatehomepage.com. He’s eager to meet those in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky and tell their stories.
