Joe Bird joined Your Weather Authority Team in November of 2013 when he moved from the small town of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Being from the south, Joe knows just how quickly weather can change and how much of an impact the weather can have on our daily lives.
Before moving to the Tri-state, Joe was a nationally certified pharmacy technician and taught math and pharmacy classes throughout parts of Middle Tennessee as well as traveling to pharmacies to assist them in any way he could. He considered sticking with it, but his passion for weather was stronger, so he continued his education towards meteorology.
Knowing that working in news requires filling many shoes, he studied journalism at Middle Tennessee State University and then wrapped up his education with meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Joe’s heart is to make sure people stay safe during weather events, and that soft heart of his carries on to the furry four-legged friends, too. You’ll often see Joe putting animal pictures in his forecast, and at times, his little Yorkie Zoey will show up, too.
Joe has also been given the title “Mister Tasty Tuesday” by his colleagues, as every Tuesday morning, Joe features a local restaurant in his segment “Tasty Tuesday.” Many often ask how does Joe eat so much and not gain weight, which the answer remains a mystery.
