OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – Jana Bryant, the district math instructional coach for Daviess County Public Schools, was selected for the inaugural cohort of Klawe fellows for 2019-20.
Eight educators across the nation were chosen for the fellowship.
The fellowship was launched in Fall of 2019 as an opportunity for current and former EdReports reviewers to build leadership skills as they advocate for high quality instructional materials and the local, state and national levels.
“Our students, their families and our communities deserve high quality aligned instructional materials,” Bryant said. “When schools embark on selecting these new highly aligned materials, a focused plan should be in place to provide teacher training and professional learning throughout the implementation. Teachers will need support in order to reach the higher expectations, deeper student engagement and critical thinking that these curricula provide. It is imperative that we advocate for funding at the state and local levels for funding to support the professional learning needed to implement these successfully.”
