EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Disney and Points of Light are teaming up to find the first-ever Volunteer Family of the Year, and one of the finalist families are from the Tri-State.
Thousands of submissions were submitted nationwide, and one family from Evansville was chosen as a top 30 family.
Steve and Susan Harp volunteer at Keep Evansville Beautiful. Each month, they participate in an anti-litter initiative and they also go into school to educate kids about not littering.
The Harp family has two dogs: Evie and Vandy who pick up trash during school visits.
From October 7-11, five finalists will be featured on Good Morning America and the winning family will then be chosen through a nationwide vote.
The winning family will receive a trip to Walt Disney World Resort for a weeklong dream vacation.
The organization or school that nominated will receive a $10,000 grant as well.
