Roscoe Herman Eaton was called to the Army in October of 1941, and went through basic training at Savannah Army Air Base.
His unit fought in the invasion of North Africa. He was stationed in Algeria, Morocco and worked his way to Italy through Sicily.
After returning to the US, Roscoe guarded prisoners of war in Maryland. Following his Army discharge, Roscoe returned to Vincennes, where he resumed his work in the shoe and shoe repair business. He married Margaret in 1946, and they had 4 children.
Roscoe is now 96. He is widowed, but still lives in the home he and his family built in the 1960’s.
