PADUCAH, Ky. (WEHT)- Hooked on Science, a Paducah-based science education program led by Jason “Mr. Science” Lindsey has become the first, nationally, to earn a sensory inclusive certification. The certification comes from KultureCity, a group dedicated to providing services for individuals with sensory needs.
The certification required Lindsey to go through extensive training from medical professionals to identify and handle sensory overload situations. Hooked on Science events will now have “sensory bags” with weighted lap pads, noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, and verbal cue cards.
KultureCity has worked with organizations including the NFL, MLB, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, among others to launch over 350 different sensory inclusive stadiums in four different countries.
Lindsey is a STEM educator, author, and meteorologist who travels the country to inspire children in science and technology. In the past, he has appeared on Today and on WEHT Eyewitness News.
