INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WEHT) – State Senator Vaneta Becker announced she’ll be seeking reelection to the Indiana State Senate representing District 50, which is composed of portions of Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.

Becker was first elected to the State Senate in 2005 after previously serving in the Indiana House of Representatives.

Becker said she’s “really focused on education issues and have filed several bills addressing some critical issues including teacher pay, teacher licensing requirements and legislation that would take $75 million from the state surplus for schools that didn’t receive an increase in funding equal to that of inflation.”

She currently serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Public Policy and is also a member of the Senate Committee on Health & Provider Services. During her legislative tenure, Becker has received multiple honors and awards for her work on behalf of Hoosiers.
