Wright defeated two other candidates as well in that primary, Michael Stillwell and Sherri Smith.

Democratic candidate Dan Beard defeated JB Brines and Robert J Hurst for his party’s nomination.

Both winning candidates said they are relieved the primaries are over and they’re looking forward to facing each other in the fall.

Beard said he sees Wright as a good friend, and he expects to have a friendly campaign.
