EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Promise Zone launched its new way of keeping the community informed on Monday.
Officials have built an app to connect people all around Evansville to the resources in the community. It has information on community events and information from different community organizations which offer assistance for different needs.
Promise Zone officials say they surveyed the area they serve and learned about 80% of the people in the area have access to smartphone technology.
“So we decided, if they have access to it which means at the palm of their hand, lets put the resources in their hand,” said Evansville Promise Zone Executive Director Silas Matchem. “Again, there are a ton if resources in the City of Evansville. So, I don’t tend to think it’s about a lack of resources. It’s about getting people connected to it.”
The app is up and running and available in both the Apple and Google Play stores.
