Indiana allowing nursing homes to move coronavirus patients to other facilities

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WEHT) — Indiana gives nursing homes the green light to move coronavirus patients.

The issue comes after a Washington, Indiana nursing home wanted to move most of its patients to other facilities.

Washington Nursing Center’s parent company would then move all COVID-19 patients to the building in Washington.

The proposal was met with protests last week, and an injunction from the Daviess County Health Department.

But on Tuesday, the State Health Department said nursing homes are free to transfer patients, and local Health Departments will not be allowed to stop them.
