CHICAGO (WEHT)- Sales for marijuana in Illinois totaled nearly $36 million in March, according to figures released by the state Thursday.
Dispensaries, considered an essential business in Illinois, sold over 812,000 items throughout the month. Medical marijuana dispensaries are allowed to offer curbside pickup for patients and patients can have their designated caretaker purchase medicine for them. However, dispensaries cannot deliver marijuana nor can recreational marijuana dispensaries offer curbside pickup.
Senior advisor to Gov. Pritzker, Toi Hutchinson says three months of consistent marijuana sales in the state show “strong support and demand from consumers.” The state says a portion of the sales will be “reinvested in communities harmed most by the failed war on drugs.”
