SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEHT)- Illinois Republican lawmakers are criticizing a draft plan to reduce property taxes in the state.

Our sister station WCIA reports that the Republicans explained that the report does not include enough ideas.

A new state report admits that most people don’t know why they owe all that money or where it all goes. The report calls for the consolidation of school districts and other local units of governments.

Illinois is notorious for some of the highest property tax rates in the nation.
