CDC releases possible culprit behind vaping-related deaths

ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Illinois state lawmakers only have a week left to vote on banning flavored vaping products.

But people against the bill are still hoping to change their minds.

The CDC released investigation findings showing that Vitamin E Oil and THC may be the culprit behind vaping related deaths and illness.

Shop owners hope lawmakers take note of that.

Advocates of vaping expect lawmakers to review bill language before a committee next week.

Many in the vaping community have been warning people about the dangers of people adding liquids like vitamin e to cartridges.

“Everything in a nicotine vape is water soluble so it easily permeates the lining of the lungs. Vitamin e is it regard to THC cartridges is being used as a thickener, so something to make an inferior product look like a more quality product to thicken it up. Vitamin e is a lipid, so it’s not water soluble and when it hits the lining of the lung it stays there.”

Advocates plan to rally next week ahead of lawmakers going over the measure again.
