Horse dies, woman injured after Hopkins County crash

HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WEHT) — A woman is being treated after she and the horse she was riding Wednesday night were hit by a pickup truck.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 8:43 p.m. on Nortonville Road near the community of Saint Charles.

The woman has been identified as 52-year-old Judith Henderson of Dawson Springs. The Sheriff’s Office says Leon Smith, 82, of Nortonville was driving the 2001 Ford Ranger that hit her and the horse.

The Sheriff’s Office tells Eyewitness News, Henderson was taken to Baptist Health in Madisonville with minor injuries. Smith was not hurt.

The horse died at the scene.

Right now, no charges are expected to be filed in the case.
