Kentucky lawmakers back in capital

KENTUCKY (WEHT)– Lawmakers in Kentucky will take to the statehouse Monday. Republican majorities in both houses will be working with democratic governor andy beshear during this 60-day session. They will be tasked with creating a new two-year budget for the state. But lawmakers say they could have some problems doing it. State Representative Rob Wiederstein says they have been cutting the budget for the last 15 years.

“We are one of about ten states that don’t have enough structural income. coming in. to meet ongoing expenditures. so we know that we as a body are going to have to address that deficit,” State Rep. Rob Wiederstein says.

Marijuana, casino gambling, and sports betting are also topics slated for discussion.
