Midwest Fertilizer: Plans moving forward for plant in Posey County

Local

POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – Midwest Fertilizer says plans are moving forward for a future fertilizer plant in Posey County.

The announcement was made at Wednesday night’s Posey County Economic Development partnership dinner.

The dinner took place in New Harmony at the Conference Center.

Earlier this year, we reported that Midwest Fertilizer was moving forward with a Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant after a delay from the IRS after some bonds expired.

President Les Wright says the project is on track through next year.

“The timeline is first to get the contracts negotiated and signed, and then to do a financial close. And that financial close may be later next year. It’s a complicated set of business to do the contracts.”

The facility is expected to bring over 150 jobs to the Tri-State.
