Newburgh’s Sarah Schoenbaechler passes away

Local

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – Sarah Schoenbaechler, the 16-year-old that had her own Christmas in July parade dedicated to her, has passed away.

Sarah had cerebral palsy, and because of health complications, her family was worried she would not be around for Christmas.

In July, a neighborhood in Newburgh transformed their yards with their very best Christmas decorations. Sarah rode in a flamingo covered golf cart for the parade route.

The Town of Newburgh also issued a proclamation, designating July 20th as Sarah Schoenbaechler Day.

According to her obituary, she passed away on September 19 at home, surrounded by her family.

Her obituary describes Sarah as “an inspiration” and says she would want everyone to “turn up the music, throw up a thumb’s up and love unconditionally – always.”
