The sheriff’s office is investigating after a shooting

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT)- The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a domestic dispute turned into a shots fired call. Around 7 Sunday the sheriff’s office was called to a house in the 5600 blocks of New Harmony Road. They say a couple inside the home had been arguing and the wife tried to shoot her husband and the gun exploded. Both were hurt. But their injuries aren’t serious and were treated on the scene. The sheriff’s office says they were the only people inside and they have not been cooperating. This happened in a neighborhood but the sheriff’s office says no one should be worried.

“We have Detectives here, crime scene personnel here, and so they’re going to be getting a search warrant for the residence. It is very early on but we do have both people. We have a suspect in custody so neighbors no one needs to be worried it’s a domestic situation,” Major Jason Ashworth says.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect had access to the gun. The sheriff’s office says the crime scene unit will be out to investigate and they will update us with more information when it becomes available.
