EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Fire Department memorializes one of its own with a new fire truck. A ceremony was held Monday to dedicate the new truck after Captain James Pauli, Jr.

The 28 year veteran passed away in February 2019 after a medical emergency. He was 51-years-old.

“He was a very big advocate of volunteering and helping anybody who needed help,” said Division Chief Mike Larson. “And I would get a call, just ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ And I would try to help him. No way I could keep up with him because his heart was a big as this big red truck and would do anything for anyone.”

Captain Pauli’s name is placed on both sides of the new fire truck which goes into service Tuesday.
