American Red Cross Responding to Storm Damage

The American Red Cross is responding to tornado damage caused by storms early Wednesday morning. The counties include: Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Orange, Posey, Ripley, Scott, and Washington.

The Red Cross opened a shelter in Gibson County for 17 people at around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at Owensville United Methodist Church, 103 S 3rd Street.

“We are committed to supporting residents in affected areas,” said Theo Boots, executive director for the American Red Cross Southern Indiana chapter. “We will continue to work with EMA directors, partner agencies and other Red Cross volunteers to make sure people have their basic needs and know that the Red Cross is always there.”

Any individuals affected by the storms are encouraged to call the American Red Cross Southern Chapter at (812) 471-7200 or call Brandy Graham at (812) 701-3818 to inquire about disaster relief assistance and to speak with a client caseworker.
