Arkansas Man Tries to Walk to Philadelphia for DNC

Democrats from around the country are converging on Philadelphia in just a couple of weeks for the Democratic National Convention.

One man is trying to make it to the City of Brotherly Love in a different way.

Delegates will head there on planes, trains and automobiles, but one man decided to hoof it.

He’s walking from Arkansas to Philadelphia.

Nathan Shuffield isn’t an invited delegate, but says he still feels the need to be in Philadelphia.

“I just saw a lot of people losing hope. And I thought, ‘what a better way to inspire hope than to do something outrageous?’ And it worked,” says Shuffield.

He’s been getting rides along the way.

The Medcalf family from Mt. Carmel is driving him to Columbus, Ohio on Friday night so he can continue his journey.
