(WEHT) – The Animal Recovery Mission (ARM) released video on Tuesday, which it says is evidence of animal neglect at Strauss Veal Feeds, a starter-to-finish veal operation caring for around 30,000 dairy veal calves.
The farm is in the Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio Tri-State region.
ARM said a newly retired Sheriff Deputy Detective and Medal of Honor recipient was hired by Strauss Veal Feeds as a calf care giver. The employee was also an ARM operative.
ARM claims calves were left in pitch black conditions, violently thrown into trailers while being transported, and living in tight spaces in their own filth.
The operative also said many of the calves were sick or injured, with 10-20 calves dying daily.
ARM also claims medication was illegally used.
