MUNCIE, Ind. (WEHT) — Ball State University’s Board of Trustees approved a plan for the Fall 2020 semester.
All classes will begin on schedule on August 24. President Geoffrey Mearns says more classes will be scheduled in the evening and possibly on weekends. More online courses will be offered.
Fall Break is cancelled, and classes will be held on Labor Day. After Thanksgiving break, all classes, final projects and exams will be completed online.
Residence hall details are still being worked out, but Mearns says room assignments will be adjusted to reduce the number of students using the same restroom and other common areas. Rooms in residence halls and other university-owned facilities will be retained to quarantine and isolate students who may be exposed to or who may test positive for the COVID-19 virus. Dining halls will prepare all orders as to-go.
Before returning to campus, each employee must complete a self-certification form and will be required to perform a daily assessment of possible symptoms.
All employees are strongly encouraged to wear face masks at all times while working on campus. An employee is required to wear a face mask (a) when the employee is in the presence of other people and social distancing is not practicable, or (b) when the employee’s supervisor has determined that a face mask is necessary in order to ensure that a specific job can be performed safely.
Ball State has ordered 50,000 reusable face masks and plans to distribute two masks to every faculty, staff and on-campus student who requests them.
