Original story

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says a body found in Evansville on Tuesday has been identified as Monika Roberts, 35, of Maryland.

Coroner Steve Lockyear says an autopsy has been completed, and it was determined Roberts died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

The Evansville Police Department responded to S. New York Ave. around 1 p.m. on Tuesday over a report of a body found outside a house. Neighbors say the house was vacant.

The Henderson Police Department had been searching for Roberts, who was treated for a gunshot wound in September in Henderson.

The Evansville Police Department and the Henderson Police Department are still investigating the death.
