Boonville mayor declares month of October ‘Anti-bullying Awareness Month’

BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The mayor of Boonville stands up to an ongoing issue in schools – bullying.

On Friday afternoon, Mayor Charlie Wyatt made a statement with concerns about children in schools and bullying.

He declared the month of October anti-bullying awareness month for the city.

“It’s come to my attention that goes on everywhere in the work place and it raises its ugly head there and now again. We just have got to safeguard our children especially in the school systems.”

The declaration states schools and communities “must safeguard children and recognize serious issues that face them each day and offer an environment of promise and security.”

This, he says, is a symbol of commitment to the year-round struggle with ongoing bullying issues.
