Burn bans issued for Vanderburgh, Spencer counties

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – Burn bans have been issued for Vanderburgh and Spencer counties.

The burn bans were issued due to dry conditions and the risk of widespread fire hazards.

A county-wide burn ban is in effect until further notice for both counties.

Open burning, camp fires and other recreational fires, including the burning of debris, will be prohibited.

You cannot burn in barrels for disposal or burn directly on the ground for any reason.

Residents could face fines of up to $7,500 per violation per day.

Fires in indoor heating units and outdoor cooking grills are not included in this ban.
