Mexico, Canada scrap whiskey tariffs

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – American Whiskey producers feeling the pain from trade disputes are getting a shot of relief.

Last Friday, President Donald Trump lifted import taxes on Canadian and Mexican steel and aluminum.

In return, Canada and Mexico agreed to scrap tariffs on some US goods, including whiskey.

American distilleries have suffered shrinking exports due to tariffs.

The whiskey industry is hoping this agreement will ease trade tensions in the future.
