Castle High School and Middle School band programs received world class honors Tuesday.
During an end of the year band festival the program was recognized with the John Phillip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Shield Award.
The award honors band programs that have achieved an international level of excellence.
It is an achievement that students say came from a lot of practice and dedication.
“What we noticed right away was the wow factor that these are teenagers that play at the level of collegiate students” said Award Presenter W.Dale Warren “and their excellence is beyond reproach in any section they don’t have any weaknesses.”
The entire Castle band program makes up more than 700 middle and high school students.
At the end of the show they all played the song America the Beautiful together.
