Cause of death released for woman killed in crash on North First Avenue


The cause of death has been released for the woman killed in a crash on North First Avenue Tuesday morning.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says Darla J. Smith died from internal injuries from blunt force trauma from the crash.

Her death is being ruled a homicide.

EPD says William Buckman was driving high on meth when he crashed into Smith’s vehicle. Smith was taken to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Buckman remains in hte hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Once he is released, he will face charges related to the crash.
