Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will stay in office a bit longer.
Emanuel beat Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia in the city’s first-ever runoff for mayor Tuesday.
The vote went to a runoff after Emanuel failed to get above 50% in the first round of voting in February.
Chicago has fallen victim to quite a few financial problems including a $20 billion pension crisis and $300 million operating budget shortfall.
Emanuel claimed Garcia was too inexperienced to handle the problems.
Garcia criticized Emanuel for not listening to his voters’ needs during his first term.
