Crews will soon begin work on replacing some of Evansville’s older water mains.
The Water and Sewer Utility Board approved three projects that total more than $7.5 million in price.
Evansville Water and Sewer Utility Director Allen Mounts says these are three of nearly 30 projects planned.
This involves replacing cast iron piping with PVC piping.
The locations are Weinbach Avenue, Lant Circle and Bayard Park Drive, and Western Terrace.
Mounts says work could begin in roughly four weeks.
He says Evansville has had more than 400 main breaks in these areas in the last year and a half.
He says replacing the mains will cut down on the main breaks, and the PVC pipes will last a lot longer.
