Civil War reenactment takes place this weekend

A Civil War event featuring reenactments will be held in Newburgh from July 20 – July 22.

“Newburgh Remembers” is a weekend event, which includes a reenactment of the Raid of Newburgh during the Civil War.

The weekend will also feature a Cotillion Dinner Dance at Rolling Hills Country Club, ladies afternoon tea, ERA/Newburgh Museum’s Annual Historic House Tour, a wreath laying ceremony honoring all veterans, narrations of the Capture of Newburgh during the Civil War, Civil War skirmishes, the reading of The Gettysburgh Address, and narration on Abraham Lincoln growing up in Indiana.

Here’s a full schedule of events:

Friday – July 20.2018 
11 am – 3 pm Newburgh Museum Presents a Civil War Photography Exhibit by Kenneth May at Preservation Hall 
5:30 pm Re-enactors and Sutlers encampment begins -Old Lock and Dam Park 
5:30 pm Cotillion Dinner Dance* -Rolling Hills Country Club 

Saturday – July 21.2018 
9:00 am Sutler Village/Food Vendors open -Old Lock and Dam Park 
10:00 am Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring all veterans -Old Lock and Dam Park 
10:30 am The Raid and Capture of Newburgh Narrative -Old Lock and Dam Park
11 am – 4 pm Newburgh Museum Presents a Civil War Photography Exhibit by Kenneth May at Preservation Hall 
11:00 am School of the Soldier -Old Lock and Dam Park 
11:30 am The Abraham and Fannie Phelps Folklore Story -Old Lock and Dam Park 
12:00 pm The Old Dam Community Band Performance -Old Lock and Dam Park Civil War Skirmish -Old Lock and Dam Park 
1-5 PM Abraham Lincoln presented by Larry Elliott 
2:00 P.M. Gettysburg Address
