Clerk attacked during early morning Evansville convenience store robbery

An Evansville convenience store clerk was attacked overnight during a robbery.

According to Evansville police, it happened at the Circle K on S. Kentucky Avenue, just after 1:30 Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the suspect, described as a middle-aged man, hit the clerk in the head with an umbrella.

They say he then stole two cartons of cigarettes before leaving.

The clerk was not seriously hurt.

And police tell us they currently have nobody in custody.
