Complaint filed against judge in Guyger case over Bible

News

(CNN) – The judge who gave convicted murderer Amber Guyger a Bible is being accused of overstepping her authority.

On Wednesday, Judge Tammy Kemp had just sentenced Amber Guyger to 10 years in prison for killing her neighbor, Botham Jean.

The judge talked to, hugged, and then gave a Bible to Guyger.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation said the judge’s actions were inappropriate and unconstitutional.

The organization is asking the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct to investigate the incident.

CNN reached out to Judge Tammy Kemp for comment.
