Construction nearly complete on Ronald McDonald House at Gateway

News

WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – Construction on the new 16-room Ronald McDonald House at Deaconess Gateway is nearly complete.

This will be the second home for Evansville, which is free for anyone to stay in while their child is in medical care, especially those from out of town.

The Development Director says the second home is being built because of the need in our community, especially at the Women’s Hospital where 3,000 babies a year are born, with some having to stay in the NICU for weeks.

“A neat thing about our charity is that we work very closely with other community partners, including those healthcare partners. So, based off the recommendation of some officials at Deaconess, at St. Vincent, we collaborate so that we can come up with the most inclusive spaces as possible to really meet the needs of those families. “

This house even has a sensory room for those needing some therapy or on the spectrum.

Visitors will be allowed to start using the facility starting October 15th.
