SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEHT) — Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s order for everyone in the state to wear a mask in public takes effect on Friday.
But, that order raises questions for gun owners.
Illinois law says it’s a Class 4 Felony to carry a concealed firearm while wearing a mask.
Pritzker says he will not issue an Executive Order to temporarily suspend that law.
He said State Police have confidence that law enforcement will use appropriate judgement and prosecutors will exercise sound discretion.
Pritzker said he is trying to strike a delicate balance between protecting public health, without violating the rights of law-abiding citizens.
