Gov. Andy Beshear outlines some reopening phases

Coronavirus Watch Kentucky

Ky. (WEHT) — Beshear outlined Phase 1 of Healthy at Work during his Wednesday briefing. He says everything depends on not seeing a spike in cases and businesses adhering to guidelines. Things are subject to pause.

On May 11, Beshear outlined manufacturing, construction, vehicle or vessel dealerships, professional services, horse racing with no fans and dog grooming and boarding.

Retail and houses of worship will phase in May 20. All of this is contigent on keeping social distancing and social distancing. Beshear says they’ve been working with faith leaders on a gradual schedule.

On May 25, Beshear says 10 person social gatherings and barbers, salons, cosmetology businesses and similar services will be phased in, pending the guidelines.

Things that won’t be in phase one include restaurants, daycare, gyms, movie theaters, campgrounds and youth sports. Beshear thinks June may be a timeline for daycares, but is not sure.

Beshear says public pools will be not included in phases one or two.

Beshear reported 182 new cases and 10 new deaths.

Beshear says 250 people at Green River Correctional Complex have been tested so far, and all will be tested by Friday afternoon.
