New housing plan announced for Green River Correctional Complex, Beshear adds partnerships

Ky. (WEHT) — Gov. Andy Beshear announced new partnerships with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Kentucky Distillers to allow businesses to purchase masks and hand sanitizer.

Phase One Reopening of Healthy at Work begins May 11. Beshear and his staff reminded everyone of the 10 steps to being Healthy at Work.

Secretary J. Michael Brown outlined a new housing plan for those at Green River Correctional Complex. Brown says a total of 875 people were tested, including all inmates and those working there.

Brown says those who have tested positive will be in a group and housed together. Another unit will be for those who have tested negative but have been exposed to someone who has tested positive. A third unit for those will be who have tested negative and have not been exposed. A fourth will be for those who have tested negative but are medically vulnerable.

Beshear reported 163 new COVID-19 cases, for a total of 5,245 statewide. More than 60,000 have been tested. Eight additional Kentuckians have died, and a total of 261 have died.
