Drug reportedly shown to be possible COVID-19 treatment

Coronavirus Watch

(WEHT)- Dr. Anthony Fauci announced results from a study that reportedly shows Remdesivir, an antiviral drug, had a positive effect in treating COVID-19.

Dr. David Schultz of Evansville Primary Care says the drug can stop the spread of COVID-19 within the body while the immune system fights the virus.

Recent studies have shown Remdesivir also improves the recovery time for COVID-19 patients.

However, Dr. Schultz adds that the drug is still only being used in certain studies and may initially only be used on more critical and seriously ill patients in larger metropolitan areas.
