JASPER, Ind (WEHT) Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, things like baby wipes, disinfecting wipes, napkins and paper towels are being flushed more often.

The city of Jasper is asking you to be cautious of what you are flushing down the toilet, and remind you not to flush anything that is not toilet paper.

Flushing anything but toilet paper can create expensive and unsanitary problems for homeowners and business owners, say city officials.

Even flushing “flushable” wipes can can cause clogs, backups, equipment and pipe breakages, and in extreme cases, can even force raw sewage to back up into people’s homes.
