Reminder: Coronavirus pandemic extends tax deadline to July 15

Coronavirus Watch

(WEHT) — Normally around this time on April 15, we’d be reminding you that time is running out to file your taxes.

Instead, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re reminding you that if you haven’t filed yet… there’s no reason to worry.

The Trump administration announced last month that Americans would be given an extra 90 days to file their 2019 returns — making the new deadline July 15.

Also, those with Federal income tax payments due on Wednesday may also defer those until July 15, as well, without penalties or interest.

The I.R.S. is still urging anyone who is due a refund to file as soon as possible.

Refunds are typically issued in about 21 days.
