USI professor helping the community with care packages

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT)- A professor at the University of Southern Indiana is helping his students through these hard times.

After learning that one of his students was having a tough time affording food Chuck Armstrong decided to send her a care package with things like mac and cheese and cookies. He quickly learned she wasn’t the only student who needed help.

So he started a website and a GoFundMe page to find out who needed help and raise money to pay for food and shipping. But Armstrong says he isn’t doing it alone.

“The people that are helping me out. The way that the community is stepping up. Not just financially. My department chair delivered care packages for me yesterday,” Chuck Armstrong says.

Armstrong says the community response for him is better than giving out the packages.
